Tony is the New Media Manager and web strategist for InterAction, the largest coalition of U.S.-based international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) focused on the world’s poor and most vulnerable people. Collectively, InterAction’s more than 165 members work in every developing country. In 2006, Tony published the noted website UNSG.org on the selection of the next Secretary General. The site quickly became an authoritative resource for media, civil society groups and governments, including early reporting of the results of the Security Council’s closed-door straw polls. UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Shashi Tharoor, himself a candidate, publicly praised the site as “the gold standard” for information on the race. The same year Tony completed a Masters program in public policy from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy, specializing in international security and global development. His other professional affiliations include membership on the Board and staff of Citizens for Global Solutions (1997-2005, 2008-present), on the Executive Committee for the World Federalist Movement-Institute for Global Policy (2006-present), and as a rapporteur with the Stanley Foundation (2004-present). During his graduate program, he also completed research assistantships with the Center for Advanced Study of Language and the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement (CIRCLE) and a fellowship with the office of Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD).
